Do you guys remember Patrician III? Yes, there is. Usually you fail in the beginning, but once you get around how things work it's loads of fun.
To easily access the game's files, simply right click the game in your Steam library, and glide your mouse down to the game's properties. Upon clicking properties, you should be seeing three tabs: General, Updates, and Local Files. In this instance you would like to select Local Files. After doing so, click the first option at the top, which is simply labelled as 'Browse Local Files.' .Once you have done this, you will now be in the files of the game. The next thing to do is to find the file labelled 'Mapeditor'. Click this to open the map editor. After opening the editor you can select your number of cities, I suggest a lower number around 20, but if you think you can get around the constant crashes that come with 40 cities (at least for me), then you are welcome to go all the way up to 40.
Your screen should look something like this. Now that you have the editor open, you should be able to find out how to easily do the rest, but if not then do not fear, for I am here to help guide you on your journey to making your Patrician III experience slightly better. To make a new city, simply click on one of the empty slots (they appear as an empty circle) and you will be able to create a city. Feel free to name it as you choose. This is also where you select whether it will be a Hanse City, a Trading Office, or a Hanse Manufactory. Choose at your will, but note you will only be able to start in Hanse Cities. Manufactories and Trading Offices are off limits. If you followed all of my directions, along with a bit of your own intuitiveness then you should have a fully functioning map, now remains one important thing - Saving your map and importing it to the game for play.Near the top left of your screen, there should be a number of Icons.
The one you want to select is named Export, and has an icon of a blue arrow. After clicking it, you can now name and save your Map. It should now be saved. To make sure it's saved, open up your game and try to start a new game.
Select a map, and you should now see your map there.Start a new game, and behold. Your new map awaits you.
